    Tips on Eating On Board

Flying long distances can be stressful on your body. Help it by doing the following:

Eat something before you board your aircraft
Relaxed flying begins before takeoff. A study by the Japanese researcher Dr. Makoto Matsamura has shown that a snack and a beverage before takeoff is good for your health.
So it's best to enjoy a snack before your flight!

Drinking plenty of liquids during the flight
As a general rule when flying:
Eat less and drink more, because aboard aircraft digestion is on " low flame". It's best to eat low fat meals, fruit and vegetables.
Another important point you should note:
Due to the low humidity in an aircraft cabin, your body needs more fluids than when you are on the ground. Because humidity in the cabin drops, the air becomes dry and on long-haul flights this can result in symptoms od parching of the mucos membranes and skin irritations. So drink a glass of non-carbonated mineral water or fruit juice every two hours. They're healthy and will keep you fit! We recommend that you skip cofee, black tea, cola and alcohol because they take more liquids from the body than they supply it.
Especially children should drink a lot of liquids because in relation to their weight they have a larger body surface. This means evaporation through their skin is greater than in the case of adults.

    Stay fit with small snacks
Tank up on fresh energy on long-haul flights with a small meal of fruit, vegetables and easily digestable snacks!
    Especially suitable for snacks are:
    Chocolate bars
    Dried fruit and nuts
    Russian bread
Apples, bababas, pears...whatever you feel like and is in season!
  19. Can I take foodstuff from India overseas?
All countries have different rules when it comes to import of food articles. Please check very carefully before embarking on your journey.
  20. How do I transport my pets by Air?
Pets are carried in the cargo hold, which is located underneath the passanger cabin, in the aircraft. This hold is temperaturre controlled and provides a comfortable environment during the flight. The hold is not lit, because experience shows that pets quickly settle down and travel better in the dark.

Pets are not permitted in the passenger cabin.

Before making any transport arrangements, you must make sure that all qpplicable documentation, such as possible import licences required by country of destination, have been obtained. Vaccinations or health and quarantine requirements must also be met.

You must have a correctly sized container to carry your pet, otherwise the airline may refuse travel for your pet.

Detailed instructions on the container specifications can be found in the IATA (International Air Transport Association) Live Animals Regulations.
  21. What can I do to prepare my pet for its journey?
Get your pet used to the container a few days before its flight. A fovourite blanket should help it feel at home in a strange environment.

Give only a light meal to your pet a few hours before the flight departure. Most pets are house trained and do not wish to soil their bedding. It is therefore kinder not to give them too much food. If the flight duration is over 12 hours, water needs to be provided, but care should be taken not to overfill the water container. Water is checked before loading and during transit stops.

Pets travel very well and do not usually need a sedative. It sedation is required, it must only be carried out under strict veterinary supervision and the details should be clearly shown pn the pet's container.

Puppies and kittens must be atleast 10 weeks old and must be weaned and able to eat on their own. (Please note that for some countries the minimum age is 12 weeks). Cats and dogs up to sixth week of pregnancy can be carried. However, they must have a veterniary certificate confirming the pregnancy and that the pet is fit to travel.

For more detailed information please log on to your airline's website or call your Dedicated Travel Counsellor at +91 80 41221222 who can give you an airline contact.

  22. What do I do in the event of exceeding my free Baggage Allowance?
An excess Baggage Fee is charged if you exceed weight or number of pieces. This is no longer based on ticket price but linked to destination.
  23. What is usually forbidden to carry in cabin baggage?
The following items are usually not permitted on board the cabin of any aircraft:
  • Zippo lighters
  • Toy or replica guns
  • Household cutlery
  • Catapults
  • Steel nail files
  • Knives with any length blade
  • Razor blades (non-safety)
  • Paper Knives
  • Darts
  • Sporting bats/clubs
  • Billiard/snooker/pool cues
  • Only nail scissors are permitted where blades do not exceed 3 cm.
  • Tradesmen's tools
  • Corkscrews
  • Hypodermic syringes require proof of medical need
  • Any other article which the airport authority considers might be used, or could be adapted, for causing injury or incapacitation of a person.
